The person, who asked to remain anonymous, says she was the first person to run inside the family's home. The neighbor tried to pull the dog off the child's face while removing the other two dogs into a nearby room.
The family friend told 3 News Now the family revealed the girl suffered from skull fractures and underwent surgery.
Familiar with the dog, the neighbor also said the attack surprised her as she'd never seen the dog act aggressively.
Omaha police are handling the investigation.
