LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — Nebraska's Department of Correctional Services says an inmate was discovered missing when doing evening counts on Sunday.
The inmate, 41-year-old Viet Tran, was in the process of serving out 13-26 years for multiple convictions which include: unauthorized use of a financial transaction device, drug charges, theft by deception and disturbing the peace.
Tran is described as:
- 5’4”, 190 lbs
- Black hair
- Brown eyes
An electronic monitoring device Tran was wearing was discovered near Southwest 27th and Van Dorn Streets in Lincoln. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement.
Tran was serving out the current portion of his sentence at the Community Corrections Center-Lincoln which has fewer restrictions placed on inmates. Inmates are allowed to participate in work opportunities, attend school and religious services with prior approval and without direct supervision.
