The company set to open a medical cannabis dispensary in Council Bluffs plans to purchase a building on 9th Avenue near I-29.
Have A Heart Compassion Care, LLC, operated medical and recreational dispensaries in Washington State. A spokesperson for the company says they are already getting Iowans reaching out, wanting to apply for positions.
The oil and capsule medicine will come from a growing and processing facility in Des Moines run by Med Pharm. Lucan Nelson, who works for the company as a consultant from Kemin Industries, says they are waiting to see how many patients will apply for cards in Iowa to assess needs.
Med Pharm and Have A Heart will work together to serve the Council Bluffs community, he said.
"Have a heart really brings a lot of industry knowledge to the table and has been operating in some of these medical dispensaries for several years," Nelson said.
The state has set a deadline of Dec. 1 for the five dispensary sites to be up and running across the state.
