An Omaha art museum is adding a new building to its downtown location.
The Joslyn Art Museum announced its plans for expansions Wednesday.
The same firm that designed the Sept. 11 Memorial Pavilion will design the building, which will be built near 24th and Dodge. The new building will include new galleries, public programming and offer more educational opportunities.
It will be added to the property the museum has owned since 1931. The last expansion was in 1994 when at 58,000 square foot pavilion was added.
Last year, around 200,000 people visited the Joslyn Art Museum.
