The family of a missing Peru State College student gets the largest civil verdict in Nebraska history even though they won't be able to collect it.
A Nemaha County jury awarded Ty Thomas' family $2.64 billion in damages on Wednesday. Thomas disappeared in 2010 and is presumed dead. Her family sued Joshua Keadle, the last person to see her alive. Authorities say Keadle made incriminating statements to investigators leading them to believe he was involved in Thomas' disappearance.
Keadle is now in prison for a 2008 rape.
