LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, an inmate at the Lincoln Correctional Center was hospitalized Wednesday after being attacked with a large metal bar clamp and stabbed repeatedly with a screwdriver.
The inmate sustained serious injuries from the attack, which happened inside the facility's wood shop.
NDCS says staff members arrived quickly and restrained the armed inmate.
Initial reports show the injured inmate sustained head injuries, puncture wounds and possible broken bones.
The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the incident. The findings will be given to the county attorney to determine criminal prosecution.
