LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) — A group of five men from Lincoln who have been friends since high school and college claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the Nebraska Lottery Tuesday.
The group, who call themselves "The Five," consists of Douglas Murray, Felipe Osorio, Eric Cobb, Chris Hinkley and Yevgeniy Koval. They started pooling their money together in October when the Mega Millions jackpot hit $1.5 billion.
According to Murray, it was coincidence they got to claim the winning ticket together. Typically, The Five only comes back to Nebraska for Christmas but all of them were in town for Thanksgiving this year.
"We found out we won on Black Friday morning," Murray said in a Nebraska Lottery release.
The ticket was purchased from the U-Stop at 2925 Northwest 12th Street in Lincoln.
