OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A fatal crash Wednesday morning resulted in the temporary closure of I-480 in both directions.
Around 10:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a personal injury crash at I-480 Southbound and Woolworth Ave.
Investigation revealed a 2002 Cadillac Deville was Eastbound on Woolworth, drifted left, then left the roadway. The vehicle drove through a chain link fence and vaulted onto the I-480 roadway below, a press release from the Omaha Police Department says.
The Cadillac then struck two vehicles before colliding with the concrete median barrier, where ti flipped over into the northbound lane of I-480.
The driver, identified as 57-year-old Frederick L. Cox, was pronounced dead at the scene by Omaha Fire Department medics.
No one was injured in the other two vehicles.
I-480 was closed in both directions until approximately 1:45 p.m. Nebraska State Patrol assisted with the closures.
