A fatal rush-hour car crash at 84th Street and Platteview Road in Sarpy County left a man dead Monday afternoon.
According to Sarpy County Sheriff Capt. Dan Shukis, a man driving a tan Chevy Cavelier attempted to turn left and continue southbound on Plattview Road but pulled out in front of a black Chevy Traverse traveling northbound. The woman driving the Traverse T-boned the vehicle, Shukis said.
The man, pinned in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A woman driving another vehicle southbound was also involved in the crash; neither women reported injuries.
"It was congested there, a lot of traffic turning," Shukis said.
Traffic on nearby roads was being diverted to allow authorities and emergency personnel to safely work the scene. Platteview Road traffic blocked off at 96th Street to the west and 72nd Street to the east. Similarly, 84th Street was blocked off at Fairview Road.
It was not yet known whether anyone involved in the crash was or was not wearing seatbelts.
