SARPY COUNTY, Neb. (KMTV) -- — Remembering the fallen, and their ultimate sacrifice. Hundreds of people attend the Memorial Day Service at the Omaha National Cemetery.

Congressman Don Bacon was on hand to encourage people to not just celebrate their sacrifice, but also live it every day.

They laid wreaths for each branch of service, raised the flag at noon, and had a flyover.

Vets we spoke with say they honor their brothers and sisters and share the bond with those still here.

"It's always kind of uplifting to come out here even though it's a cemetery it's a beautiful place but it's also a home for the vets. They know they've got a home here," said John Kirwan, a Vietnam Veteran.

About 2,000 individuals have been interred at the Omaha National Cemetery.
