Metro-area voters take in first Democratic debate in Council Bluffs

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (KMTV) — Inside the Buck Snort bar and restaurant in Council Bluffs, voters watched as ten White House hopefuls squared off in the first primary debate in Miami.

One of Wednesday night's most prominent candidates, Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren, had supporters with high expectations in western Iowa.

Pottawattamie County Democrats brought some fun to engage all voters no matter their ideal candidate on this night. As candidates talked topics like healthcare, bingo cards were handed out with popular terms and vocabulary fimiliar today's political landscape.

Other discussions touched on immigration and abortion. Metro-area voters hope for more discussions on other topics as the race for 2020 continues.

Ten more Democratic candidates including former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders will take the stage Thursday night. More watch parties will be take place across the Omaha metro and the rest of the country.
