DC West Middle Schools  say they are closely working with a mold and remediation company after they a mold in their of their rooms.

According to officials, a routine air test was conducted on Wednesday, and they found elevated levels of mold spores in the Special Education classroom and adjacent office located near the art and band rooms.

Officials sent emails to parents and guardians informing them on incident on Thursday.

DC West School officials say the classroom and office in question have been evacuated and sealed off.

Special Education students and teachers meanwhile have been moved to another classroom, as a precaution. In addition, the contractor A-1 Mold is testing every space at the Middle School.

"High humidity levels also remain an issue in the Special Education classroom and neighboring office which rely upon its own air conditioning system, separate from the other classrooms in that wing of the Middle School," DC West school officials said.

Officials say a  local HVAC company continues to monitor and adjust the air flow, and has been called back in again seeking new solutions.
