There's lots of excitement in the Old Market as M's Pub serves meals for the first time since a fire destroyed the building almost two years ago. But other businesses affected by the fire are still a long way from reopening.
A gas leak caused the fire that destroyed the Mercer building at 12th and Howard streets in January 2016.
M's Pub says they started the rebuilding plans about one year ago, and it's amazing to see customers return.
Around the corner on Howard Street, storefronts are still closed. Some construction has been done on the former Market House and Nouvelle Eve, but the interiors haven't started being redone to open for business.
The owner of The Market House said they're still waiting for the landlord to ready their space even though they did not sustain fire damage from the blaze.
