Multiple Nebraska State Penitentiary employees were seriously injured in two separate incidents this week.
The first occurred on Tuesday when an inmate was checking on an inmate trying to open a secure door. According to a release, the inmate refused commands and assaulted the officer attempting to restrain him.
Two staffers suffered minor injuries and another suffered a fractured thumb.
The second incident was on Wednesday when an inmate kicked a door being held by a staff member, resulting in the staff member breaking a finger and getting stitched.
Both are incidents are being investigated.
