NE Medicine issues statement regarding known data breach

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Today, Nebraska Medicine issued a statement regarding a data breach which may have included access to information such as social security numbers and driver's license numbers.

They do not believe the information will be misused and promised to help specific people who may be at risk monitor their credit:

Once Nebraska Medicine became aware of the incident, our staff took action to investigate, prevent further improper access, and to notify affected patients. We have no reason to believe the information accessed has been or will be misused. In cases where the Social Security number or driver’s license was accessible, we are offering credit monitoring for a full year, at no cost to the affected patients. Anyone with questions may call toll free 1-844-416-6280, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CST.
