Nebraska Task Force One continues work after Hurricane Florence

Posted

There is currently no timetable for the return of Nebraska Task Force One as the unit continues to help people impacted by Hurricane Florence.

The team is stationed in Hope Mills, North Carolina, which as of Monday, was still seeing heavy rain and Battalion Chief Brad Thavenet said the biggest fear is more torrential rain because the flooding already compares to Hurricane Harvey.

According to Thavenet, the normal river crest is about as high as a one-story building and the goal is to get people to higher ground. The team has already rescued 124 people from an assisted living facility and are exhausted after working sun up to sun down every day over the last four days.
