OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Beginning in the fall, road crews will work to expand Interstate 80 between 13th and 24th streets, the area where traffic frequently backs up on busy days at the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium.

The project will add an extra turn lane on the 13th Street southbound exit in addition to two lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound.

The project is part of a large, on-going Interstate project, and the Nebraska Department of Roads expects it to be done the end of 2018 at the earliest and fall of 2019 at the latest.

As part of the project, all of the Westbound on-ramps from 13th Street will be closed for 30 days.
