OMAHA, Neb. — Last weekend a new Miss Nebraska USA was crowned. 26-year-old Megan Swanson took the coveted title and will represent Nebraska in the Miss USA pageant.

But Megan is not only a winner, she's breaking records and creating an inspiring path for others to follow. Six years ago Megan won the Miss Nebraska pageant - which puts on Miss America. Now she's the new Miss Nebraska USA and will be competing in Miss USA sometime later this year. Megan has won both major titles for the state of Nebraska - and she's the first to ever do it. When she competed for Miss Nebraksa and Miss Nebraska USA and won both, it was also her first time she participated in either pageant. Megan says it's all about following your dreams, setting a goal and reaching for the stars. She says from her Miss Nebraska win six years ago until now, she's come a long way.

"Well being almost 27 it is a little bit different of an experience than being barely 21 years old. So I have lived in Nashville since then and moved back, I have my degree, I owned my own company for four years. I've just been developing women as a leader and a mentor for four years now and I'm just a different person," she said.

Megan hopes to use her newfound title to inspire and empower women all across Nebraska.
