The Tecumseh State Correctional Institution, which is still recovering from a inmate riot and more recent attack, has a new warden.
Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Director Scott Frakes appointed Brad Hansen to serve as warden beginning on March 21. He takes over following the resignation of Brian Gage.
“Hansen’s leadership skills and vision uniquely qualify him to create the healing environments from which both the TSCI staff and inmates will benefit,” Frakes said in a prepared statement Thursday.
Hansen has been with Nebraska corrections since 1977 when he started as a correctional officer.
He eventually became a unit administrator at the Nebraska State Penitentiary and helped develop emergency preparedness initiatives, the criminal investigator and K-9 programs.
