Omaha Police has confirmed the man who was accidently shot by his own son in a Northwest Omaha apartment on Tuesday night has passed away.
Officials say 44-year-old Benjamin Majestic, who was transported by Omaha Fire to UNMC died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting.
This took place at a apartment complex at 141st and Manderson Plaza.
Homicide Detectives have taken over this investigation, and it's being investigated as an accidental shooting.
Neighbor Lanie Webb said she heard commotion before she left her apartment Tuesday, and when she returned she saw the crime scene.
"I didn’t really know what had happened and I probably should’ve stuck around to try and help but it was pretty scary," Webb explained. "I mean it’s really sad especially if it was an accident that he lost his dad.”
Police have not released why they believe the shooting was accidental, or what happened before the incident.
Majestic's family didn't want to comment on Wednesday.
