The Omaha Fire Department is celebrating the installation of a new fire alert system in all of its fire stations Thursday.
The new system allows dispatchers to send messages directly to specific firehouses. Officials say it will allow for quicker response to emergencies.
A 2016 bond helped pay for the systems which county officials say were implemented on time and on budget.
