Omaha Marine Veteran surprised with new wheels

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) -

CARSTAR Auto Body gave an Omaha Marine Veteran an early Christmas gift on Wednesday, the keys to a 2008 Honda Accord.

Howard Perry is a University of Nebraska-Omaha student and father of three.  He has been borrowing cars from friends to get to school and work.

Perry said this is one of the greatest things that has happened to him in his life.

"If this wouldn't have happened,” Perry said.  “There is a good chance my life style would have dramatically changed.  If you don't have a way to get to work, they're not going to keep you employed. "

State Farm donated the salvaged vehicle to CARSTAR through the Recycled Rides Program. It’s a community service project that teams up body shops and insurance companies to fix old cars and give them to a deserving person.
