Mayor Jean Stothert is considering annexing Waterloo that would unite the small community of about 800 people with Omaha, according to our partners at the Omaha World-Herald.
Mayor Stothert mentioned the possibility in talking about fire protection last month, but said nothing is decided yet about the city's next annexation move, and that Omaha will only do so if it makes financial sense.
Waterloo Fire Chief Travis Harlow is quoted in the article as saying he wants to keep Waterloo its own small town.
