Omaha Police arrest man carrying gun near apartments

Omaha Police responded to a call around 9 a.m. Monday about a man with a gun near Tudor Heights Apartments, located at 108th and Maple streets.

According to an OPD press release, officers found the man near a restaurant in the area and saw him toss a firearm into a dumpster. They then attempted to take him into custody, deploying a Taser after the suspect tried to fight off the officers. 

Lonnie Perry, 25, faces charges of felon in possession of a handgun, criminal impersonation, possession of a stolen firearm, escape, and a previous felony warrant for escape. 

A second man, Michael Matthews, 25, was also taken into custody during the incident; he faces charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive.
