Omaha Police locate wanted fugitive

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — UPDATE 10/24/19 - The Omaha Police Department released a report about the incident this afternoon.

They say the were able to locate Kennedy thanks to information they received about his whereabouts.

When officers converged on the scene, they say Kennedy barricaded himself in a garage at the apartment complex and that they were able to take him without incident. He has been booked at Douglas County Corrections for multiple felony warrants.

After fleeing police twice, Omaha Police have taken wanted fugitive Jamie Kennedy into custody.

According to police, Kennedy, 29, was located in the area of 5439 N. 100th plz. (Grandridge Apartments) on Wednesday night and has been transported to Douglas County Corrections.

Kennedy will be booked on his warrants for domestic violence and other charges. Omaha Police have not yet said what his additional charges are.

Tuesday, Kennedy led police on a chase throughout Council Bluffs and into Omaha after destroying property and damaging a police cruiser.

After leaving the scene, Kennedy was followed by officers and eventually made his way onto the I-480 bridge into Omaha, going the wrong way. CBPD officers exited at 10th and Dodge Street but did not see Kennedy's vehicle exiting off the Douglas Street ramp.

In Omaha, the Omaha Police Department located the vehicle Kennedy was driving, abandoned near Northridge and Ida Streets, but they did not locate Kennedy.

Wednesday afternoon, another pursuit involving Kennedy began at 42nd and Himebaugh, where police ultimately lost Kennedy again.
