One person was injured on I-29 near Nebraska after a rollover accident was caused by a single axle trailer coming unhitched from a pick up truck.

According to a release from Council Bluffs Police, the trailer struck the vehicle of 41-year-old Matthew Ruttle before he had time to react, causing his vehicle to roll and end up in the median. After the trailer hit Ruttle's vehicle, it stayed in the road and was struck by a vehicle driven by Guadalupe Lemus.

Ruttle suffered only minor injuries to his forehead and Lemus suffered no injuries and  both wearing their seatbelts.

The driver of the pick-up, 80-year-old Lucas Dennis, was cited for failure to secure load. According to authorities, the safety chains on the trailer were attached but failed to secured the trailer and broke apart when the trailer became unhitched.

Both vehicles that hit the trailer were towed with disabling damage.
