One person dead after workplace accident

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — One person is dead after a morning workplace accident at First Star Recycling according to the Omaha Police Department.

A man was caught between two pieces of machinery and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Omaha Fire Department released the following statement regarding the incident:

The Omaha Fire Department responded to the above address today at 0825 for an “industrial accident”. The units on scene were B5, E61, T61, M61 and the PSS. The patient was extricated by the OFD and pronounced dead on scene by Omaha Fire Department Paramedics with the direction of medical control. The scene was then turned back over to the Omaha Police Department and OSHA.

Omaha Police have identified the victim as 60-year-old Dilaver Gasa of La Vista.
