A crash overnight on I-80 which injured a police officer may have been the result of drunk driving.
OPD says they were looking for a driver going the wrong way on the interstate. Officer Chris Mathis was a part of the search.
Mathis was westbound on I-80 when he crested the hill at 72nd and hit into another car.
The driver of the other car had parked on the interstate. The driver, Felipe Velasquez-Escobar, was admitted to Bergan Mercy with injuries.
Investigators say they suspect Felipe Velasquez-Escobar was under the influence of alcohol.
The officer was treated for broken bones in his hand, then released.
