OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — If you're looking to make a difference this holiday season, Open Door Mission is in need of toys for its Project Santa Drive Thru event.

Donations can be taken to the Timberlake Outreach Center at 2107 E Locust St in Omaha or the Elkhorn Family Outreach Center at 1620 N 203rd St in Elkhorn Wednesday & Thursday 9:30 a.m. - 6p.m. and Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5p.m. The items collected will be handed out to families in need this Saturday at 2107 E Locust St during the nonprofit's Project Santa Drive Thru from 10:00 a.m. - 3 p.m.

So far, the program has allowed more than 1,300 area families to make sure their children have a holiday gift.

"We have served so many families these last two weeks and see first hand how more families than ever before need our help due to this challenging year," says Candace Gregory, President/CEO of Open Door Mission. "We are able to hand these toys out in the safest way possible with a drive-thru, but we desperately need more toys so that no child has to go without a gift under the tree."

The event provides families with "one to two toys for each child, books, diapers. coloring books and a turkey with other food items."
