Papillion-La Vista South Students to present colors at USS Omaha

The USS Omaha will be commissioned into service Saturday afternoon in San Diego and a group of Nebraskan students will be there for the ceremony. 

Six Navy JROTC cadets from Papillion-La Vista South High School will present the colors during the ceremony. 

The ceremony, which started at noon pacific time, the students will board the USS Omaha, the United States Navy's 12th littoral combat ship and present the colors. 

The cadets will also present the colors on Friday evening at a gala for an unofficial rehearsal on the USS Midway Museum in front of top notch military officials guests. 

"We're really excited and thankful for the opportunity to come out here and represent the state of Nebraska as well as Omaha and Papillion and La Vista," said Karla Molina, a senior at the school.
