Several hundred area pet lovers turned out this weekend for Pick-a-Pooch adoption at Ralston Arena.
The web-based magazine, "Pets in Omaha," partnered with local shelters and rescue organizations for the event.
Families could choose a four-legged friend to take home or just spend some time giving a stray pet some love.
Hearts United for Animals, the only no-kill shelter in Nebraska, has been coming to the event several years.
The event also included a pet food drive to benefit animal shelters and rescues.
