OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — This afternoon, the Omaha Police Department responded to a call of shots fired near 29th and Lake Streets. Shortly after, they received additional calls of a car chase and a vehicle stopped on a roadway near 16th and Arthur C Storz Expressway.
At 16th and Arthur C Storz Expressway:
Police say a K9 unit arrived on the scene and found two females who exited a vehicle that had visible bullet holes. Upon investigating, they learned that a third passenger, a male who was injured by gunfire, exited and ran from the area. They say the male soon returned, on his own, and was taken to a nearby hospital with likely-non-life-threatening injuries.
In addition to the standard K9, a specialized dog was called in to sniff for bullet casings and/or firearms.
Police say the investigation is ongoing as they try to sort out conflicting reports.
