Potential vote coming on landlord ordinances

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha City Council could decide today if it needs to change how the city oversees rental properties.

The city council is scheduled to vote on two landlord registry ordinances.

One proposed by Ben Gray and Chris Jerram would include periodic inspections for all properties. The mayor's proposal would do that, but in phases.

Both plans were inspired in part by the shutdown of the Yale Park apartments after city inspectors found code violations.
