OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Wednesday, a familiar face in the Omaha business community announced his candidacy for mayor of Omaha.
Democratic candidate R.J. Neary kicked off his campaign along with former Omaha mayor Mike Fahey who introduced him via zoom.
Neary says he will not play politics and will fix Omaha’s streets. He also said he'll attract and keep young people with good jobs, improve housing and revitalize neighborhoods.
"I want to get Omaha off some lists...off the lists of the top-five COVID states and cities in the country,” Neary said. “Off the list of people working 2-3 jobs to get by...off the list of people who live in poverty live in substandard housing. These are not lists we want to be on."
Neary also says he'll bring leadership that will help unite Omahans.
