Michael Green, 48, was sentenced to 90 days in jail in the death of Madeline Fitzpatrick, 18, in Douglas County Court Thursday.
In August 2016, Fitzpatrick was killed when the motorcycle she was riding on was rear-ended by a semi-truck driven by Green at 264h & W. Center Road.
Green's defense attorney asked for probation since he said Green has no prior criminal history and has driven millions of miles commercially.
Green was talking on a blue tooth headset when he slammed into the back of the motorcycle. Jason Matthews was driving the motorcycle and was also seriously hurt. Prosecutors say Green was speeding and not paying close enough attention while driving a loaded semi.
Friends and family of Fitzpatrick packed the courtroom Thursday morning.
Green will lose his commercial license for one year after serving his 90 sentence.
