Thousands of Sarpy County voters will have to change their voting location ahead of the May primary.

According to a press release from Sarpy County Election Commissioner Michelle Andahl, the office has relocated all polling sites out of schools, citing strains on both the schools and on law enforcement.

“School districts in Sarpy County have always been accommodating and gracious about hosting polling sites inside of schools,” Andahl said in the release. “However, it also posed challenges for schools and law enforcement as they worked to balance security protocols with providing public access without impediment on Election Day.”

Yellow postcards have been mailed to the approximately 30,000 affected voters letting them know the address of their new polling site.
