Stores prepare for storms and holiday-shopping rush

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — With storms hitting and Thanksgiving on the horizon, local grocery stores are seeing a lot of people coming through their doors but one store says it's the perfect storm...no pun intended.

On a Tuesday afternoon at the Super Saver on 144th and Millard Ave, lines are packed and the shelves keep getting filled. Not exactly a typical weekday afternoon.

Shoppers want to get ahead of two things...the potential snow storm and a Thanksgiving feast. Arlene Boyd says she's out with her daughter grabbing more food for the roughly 20 family members and friends coming on Thursday.

"This is our second trip," she says. "Because we always go early and forget stuff. We just go, I mean, whenever we can get a chance and today seemed like a good day because we thought it was going to snow but we didn't beat the snow...but it's not that bad out."

Super Saver anticipates a couple 1,000 people will come through their doors each day until Thanksgiving. They're ordering extra for the holiday and for the weather event.
