An SUV under investigation on the shoulder of Interstate 680 Wednesday afternoon was being used to steal packages, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said two women and a man were seen by residents stealing packages in the Benson and Elkhorn neighborhoods.
Investigators say they located the suspects near 152nd Street and Curtis Avenue around 12:30, following them until calling off the pursuit near 156th Street and Reynolds Street.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspects managed to drop off their stolen goods somewhere in Iowa while being followed by two unmarked patrol vehicles.
At one point, the driver went the wrong way on I-680, officials said.
