The UNO track and field team had a celebration for its newest member Wednesday.

Montanna Garule of Scribner has signed with the Maverick track team through Team Impact, a non-profit that connects children and teens battling chronic illness with college sports teams. Montanna has Chrohn's disease and the team pulled out all of the stops for the 16-year-old.

"It was very emotional because I'm really excited, I haven't really had that great of friends throughout my life so this is really amazing for me," she said. "For sure, they are definitely my family."

Since 2011, Team Impact has matched 50,000 kids with college sports teams.
