A high speed chase that began in Kansas came to an end near Plattsmouth Thursday afternoon.
Nebraska State Troopers were notified by the Kansas Highway Patrol that they were chasing a white Hyundai SUV which was heading toward Nebraska on Highway 75. Nebraska troopers attempted to stop the vehicle in Richardson County, but the driver refused to stop. Troopers chased the vehicle northbound on Highway 75 at speeds over 100 mph before ending the pursuit near Auburn. The Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter and a Nebraska State Patrol airplane kept following the vehicle from the air.
Troopers were able to use spike strips to flatten the vehicle's tires just south of Plattsmouth and it came to a stop at the intersection of Osage Ranch Boulevard and the U.S. 34/75 junction. The suspects ran from the vehicle, but troopers arrested the male driver at a nearby car lot and the female passenger in a field.
Both will be booked into the Cass County Jail on charges including felony flight to avoid arrest, attempted theft and accessory to a felony. The suspects have not been identified.
