OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - A virtual town hall was held on Tuesday to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision to deny the Trump administration’s bid to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Immigration legal service providers, advocacy groups, and Nebraska State Senator Tony Vargas all took part in the forum, which can be watched below.

"I am thrilled with recent Supreme Court decision to uphold principles of fairness and justice through retaining DACA, protecting more than 640,000 individuals nationwide," Vargas said. "Locally, the DACA program has helped over 3,000 young, hardworking Nebraskans contribute to and care for their communities, continue their education, and help fuel our state’s economy. I will continue to stand in support of DACA, our young people, and immigrant families as your senator."

The Supreme Court voted 5-4 in denying the bid on June 18. The Trump administration has indicated they'll try again to end the program that protects immigrants brought to the United States as children.
