A man accused of sexually assaulting a young boy in a northwest Omaha mall has had similar arrests in the past.
At around 12:30pm Wednesday afternoon Omaha police responded to suspicious activity at Westroads Mall. Security had taken a man in a brown coat and glasses to their office that allegedly was inappropriately touching a 7 year old boy in the bathroom outside Dick's Sporting Goods.
Bruce M. Perry is booked on 3rd degree sexual assault and child abuse by intent in the Douglas County Jail. His mugshot will not be released until photo line-ups are complete.
An 11-year-old boy was also listed as a victim in the police report.
"It is a good reminder that your children are children and they need boundaries, and education, and they need your awareness of all of these things, and you can't let your guard down,” said Sara Nelson, a parent of three.
Police records indicate Perry served jail time for misdemeanor indecent exposure in 1993, and in 1984 another jail stint for lewd conduct.
Project Harmony says limit the chance for children to be isolated with someone no matter the age.
Westroads Mall wouldn't comment about the incident.
Perry will have his first court appearance Friday morning. If convicted on the two felonies he faces 0-6 years in prison.
