The family of a truck driver and father of three gunned down just a few miles from his house is at a loss for words as to why this happened, but hopes someone will come forward and identify the suspect.

James Womack, 32, was shot in the back at 60th & L Streets on Monday at about 4:30 p.m.  He later died at the hospital.

Omaha Police have not released any details, but witnesses told 3 News Now earlier this week that it was a road rage incident. OPD officers located the silver pick-up truck that was at the scene of the murder, but are still searching for the suspect.

Womack's wife, Ivonne, said he was a truck driver for Hill Brothers Transportation and was just starting work for the day. She wants the suspect to take responsibility for their actions.

"It was not just anything. You took a life, and that has consequences," she said. "You killed a man, and left a family broken."

Womack served three tours of duty in Iraq as an army truck driver.

Police would not release the location of the silver truck because the suspect may still be in that area.

Anyone with any information on the suspect is asked to call OPD at 402-444-7867.

A GoFundMe account has also been established to provide financial assistance for funeral costs and the family's other expenses.
