Update: Woman arrested in connection to Highland Tower homicide is now suspect in second death

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - UPDATED 1/29/2021 2:45 p.m.

A woman has been charged in connection to a recent homicide in the city.

Omaha police said 37-year-old Autum Acacia-Cortes was charged with first degree murder, use of a weapon and tampering with evidence in connection to the death of Jose Martinez.

In a release, the Omaha police announced on Friday, Jan. 29 that Acacia-Cortes was also charged with first degree murder for the death of Francisco Santiago, 53.

The 48-year-old Martinez was found dead at Highland Tower at 2500 B Street earlier this week.

Acacia-Cortes was booked into Douglas County Corrections.

Police said they are also attempting to locate 53-year-old Francisco Santiago. Officers said they are trying to ensure his safety. He's missing his left eye and has an artificial right leg.
