A group of proud nerds are rehearsing and letting their fan flags fly.
The Apollon, a non profit dinner theater and art gallery is putting a geeky twist on the holiday. 'Dork the Halls' is a Christmas themed show co-written and starring seven actors, playing 25 different characters from all sorts of geeky corners of pop culture. There's still Santa, but there's also Laura Croft and Beetle Juice.
"The show is essentially about two little girls on christmas eve reading fan fiction to each other," an actor, Kaitlin Maher said.
Instead of Santa's Elves, there's a Santa's workshop scene has the elf from a popular video game, and two elves from the Lord of the Rings movies all the action takes place around the dinner theater room.
"We have an appetizer, entree and dessert. Each fitting the dork theme. I was able to make the appetizer for game of thrones," Brok Kerbrat, another actor said.
They also have cartoon and Nintendo themed art along the walls. For the actors, they say their favorite part is turning new nerds onto the all the dorky subcultures.
"One of the cool things that happened last week was this older lady was in her 60's she had no experiences with role playing games," Kerbrat said, "but after your scene, now I am interested. I was like, what do you mean? Let's go!"
