Pleasant Green Baptist Church is giving away 2,000 pairs of brand-new shoes to local children to help them start the school year off right.
Pastor Brian Page invited me along as he shopped for the church's fifth annual back-to-school shoe giveaway.
The giveaway takes place Sunday, Aug. 9 at Pleasant Green Baptist Church from noon to 4 p.m. — or until the shoes are gone.
Everyone is welcome, but children must be present to receive shoes.
