Creighton outfielder Nicky Lopez was selected in the fifth round by the Kansas City Royals. He was the 163rd overall pick. That makes him the highest Bluejay draft pick since Ryan Gripp in 1999.
Lopez was a second team All-Big East selection. He hit .306 this season with a couple homers and eleven doubles, but it's his glove that gets most of the attention. Lopez only made six errors all season while compiling a .975 fielding percentage.
