Posted

The No. 23 ranked Creighton men's soccer team took down the No. 18 Kentucky Wildcats 3-2 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Creighton improved to 13-6-3 with the win.

Ricardo Perez and Karim Sawaf each had a goal for the Bluejays, while goalie Alex Kapp recorded four saves. Sawaf became the 11th Bluejay to score a goal so far this season. Although Creighton came away with the victory, Kentucky out-shot the Bluejays 13-6 and had nine corner kicks to the Bluejays' one.

The Bluejays will now host Providence Saturday night at 6 p.m. in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

The third round matchup between Creighton and Providence marks the third time the two teams have met this season. Providence won the first match 1-0 on Oct. 29, while Creighton came away with a 2-1 victory against the Friars in the semifinals of the Big East tournament.
