17 For '17: True Freshman on the Defensive Line

Over the next couple weeks, we will look at 17 storylines for the 2017 Nebraska football season. We begin with the incoming freshman on the defensive line.

While projected starters Freedom Akinmoladun & Mick Stoltenberg have plenty of playing experience, the Huskers behind them do not.

Damion Daniels brings in a 6'2" 310 pound frame that is sure to catch the eye of new NU defensive coordinator Bob Diaco. Daniels was ranked as a Top 25 player at his position by most recruiting sites.

Another freshman that could figure into the mix is Deontre Thomas. The 6'3 280 pounder collected 79 tackles and eight sacks in his senior season. Thomas turned down offers from Ole Miss, Michigan & many others to come to Lincoln.

And sticking with the same last name, Guy Thomas could have the highest ceiling of any of the four according to some analysts. The four star recruit from Miami racked up 14 sacks last season & also had offers from Alabama and LSU.

Finally, Deiontae Watts could also see some playing time early on. The 6'3" 290 pounder from Plano, Texas turned down offers from Oklahoma, USC & Texas.
