These days in the Big Ten West the gold standard for college football programs is Wisconsin. Come Saturday the Huskers will take on the Badgers at Camp Randall.

"We need to get to the discipline of Wisconsin," Defensive Coordinator Erik Chinander said. "Do we want to be Wisconsin? No that's not our style of football but we want the championship attitude, championship discipline and championship mentality that they have."

Chinander and his defense have a lot to fix as they prepare for a rushing attack ranked first in the big ten and eighth in the nation.

"I told the kids you need to execute better, you need to play harder," Chinander said. "I need to coach you better and I need to love you harder and sometimes loving you harder is hugging you and telling you how nice you are and sometimes it's putting my foot in your rear end and telling you the truth. We need to get some things fixed."

Following Tuesday's practice, Chinander said with Will Honas out for the year Jacob Weinamaster will see more time at linebacker. Freshman Chris Cassidy and Joey Johnson are practicing as emergency backups.

Chinander also said the coaching staff did not hand out any new Blackshirts this week.

Sophomore wide receiver J.D. Spielman and freshman Cam Taylor both practiced Tuesday.
